Abstract

Tourism village planning is a strategic step to optimize local potentials for improving community welfare as well as preserving culture and the environment. This article discusses the planning process of Kalipanas tourism village, which adopts a participatory approach involving local communities, students, and relevant partners. The methods used include field observation, structured interviews, focus group discussions (FGD), and sustainable tourism management training. The activities were conducted over two days, supported by eight students and partners such as the Kalipanas Village Government and the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis). The analysis results reveal that Kalipanas Village possesses prominent potentials including natural hot springs, beautiful natural landscapes, and well-preserved local cultural values. The tourism village planning emphasizes environmentally friendly facility development, community empowerment through capacity building, and the utilization of digital technology for promotion. Furthermore, the planning considers social, economic, and environmental aspects to ensure sustainable development. The discussion highlights that active community participation is a key factor for successful implementation of the plan. Challenges such as limited infrastructure and human resources need to be addressed with support from government and private sectors. Expected impacts include increased community income, cultural and environmental preservation, and strengthening of local capacities. In conclusion, the planning of Kalipanas tourism village provides a sustainable and participatory development model that can serve as an example for other villages to optimally develop their tourism potentials.
